I’m intrigued. I’m curious. And I love a good challenge. Notification of the 2011 NaNoWriMo has dangled a temptation I can’t resist. At WordPress’ invitation I’m going to write my daily chapter word count in a blog. So I’ve gathered up my story outlines that I’ll be listing, along with character profiles, background, scenes and whatnot, until the one month 50k novel challenge officially begins November 1st.

Time to get started . . .

Novel Synopsis

Survival has been anything but easy for the powerfully psychic alien infiltrators. Fleeing from a dying world far outside Earth’s solar system, hundreds of fleets travel to distant planets hoping to quietly become a part of a new civilization.

Beneath the Surface follows the lives of the Thalian fleet that comes to Earth; more specifically, the residents and helpers of the mother underwater city in Washington State. Due to an unforeseen change in the Earth’s ozone layer, all the original colonists and builders have died of an incurable virus. Using their technology and giant deep space vessels, Thalian craftsmen build first the mother city and then four more cities around the world, deep underwater, providing protection for thousands of Thalian refugees.

The story revolves around Damon Bromon, sovereign of the Thalian nation on Earth and Debra Hall, the last of the first generation bi-humans. Mentally linked since they were babies in the dream world, Debra’s true identity, as well as Damon’s, is hidden from her until her twenty-fifth birthday. Once the floodgates of her Thalian heritage are opened, all hell breaks loose. Can Debra accept her new reality? Can she learn control of the Thalian side of her psychic abilities? If she doesn’t, all will be lost. For Debra is the key to bringing the Thalian nation into the sunlight.

While humans continue to destroy and contaminate their natural resources, the best Thalian minds desperately search for a way to immunize themselves to the atmosphere. If a cure for the virus isn’t found soon, the humans will end up destroying the planet, leaving the earthbound Thalian race to slowly die beneath the surface.
